Vismay Sachar, a 14-year-old born and raised in Bahrain, decided to move to Pune with his mother to pursue chess seriously under the guidance of his coach, Mr. Kapil Lohana. Vismay joined VCA a few years ago, and as the student-coach bond blossomed over time, he decided to spend as much time as possible learning from his coach.
Vismay regularly visits the main branch of VCA to practice, investing 7 to 8 hours daily in chess. He is very focused, hard-working, and has a never-give-up attitude. Despite his dedication to chess, he ensures that his academics don’t take a backseat by enrolling in a distance learning program with a university in the UK.
Vismay’s efforts have been fruitful, and he is very close to crossing the 1800 FIDE Rating mark. He has won many prizes in recent tournaments and has increased his rating by around 120 points in the last two tournaments he played.
Over time, he has mastered the art of balancing academics with chess and also has a keen interest in entrepreneurship. The sheer decision to move away from his family for the love of the game is a testament to his dedication to become a Grandmaster.
